5. Henry HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 16/5/1839 in Holme, Henry died 30/6/1886 in Holbeck, Leeds, age 47. Occupation: Woollen Spinner. On 25/5/1861, when Henry was age 22, he married Mary HIRST (1840-1898) in St Peter, Birstall. Mary remarried after Henry’s death - to William Watson on 21/10/1889 in St Peter, Leeds. Click/tap image to enlarge . They had the following children: (1) Elizabeth , born about 1861 in Birstall. (2) Harry [ 13 ] . (3) Herbert [ 14 ] . 6. Caleb HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 1846 in Holme and baptized 7/9/1848 in the Wesleyan Chapel, Holmfirth. Caleb died November 1908 in Holbeck, age 63. He was buried 21/11/1908 in St Mary, Beeston. Occupation:  Woollen spinner and, around 1901, an Iron foundary labourer. On 25/12/1877, when Caleb was age 31, he married Ann ROSINDALE in St Peter, Leeds. Ann was born 1850 in Beeston and baptized 7/7/1850 in the Wesleyan Chapel, Beeston. She died November 1933 in Beeston, age 83, and was buried 18/11/1933 in St Mary, Beeston. They had the following children, both born Beeston: (1) Jane Elizabeth , born 25/8/1885 and died 1974 in Leeds, age 88. In 1909, when Jane was age 24, she married Joseph Leonard BENN (1888-1930) in Beeston. (2) Annie , born 5/1/1887 and died 29/10/1967 in Victoria, Australia, age 80. On 24/7/1913, when Annie was age 26, she married Arthur Henry GERMAN (1885-1985) in the Methodist Manse, Adelaide, Australia. The surname was changed to Germaine sometime after the marriage and appears in that form in the death registration index. 7. William HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 1848 in Holme and baptized 7/9/1848 in the Wesleyan Chapel, Holmfirth. William died in 1923 in Bramley, age 75. Occupation: Woollen mule spinner. On 14/4/1878, when William was age about 29, he married Esther WALKER , daughter of David WALKER, in St Saviour's, Brownhill, Birstall. Eunice was born 1848 in Batley and died there in 1921, age 73. The couple’s 1911 census entry, when they were both age 62, confirms they had no children. 8. Senior HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 11/4/1851 and baptized 29/6/1851 in the Holy Trinity church, Holmfirth. Senior died 31/12/1901 in Upton on Severn, Worcester with his age given as about 55 . Cause of death was certified as heart disease. The Registrar, James Doughty, recorded “Certificate received from George Brown Deputy Coroner for Worcestershire Middle Division. Inquest held 3rd January 1902.” It is not known why Senior was living so far from Yorkshire and his family when he died. It’s possible he simply went to where there was work. Occupation variously given in census records  as Felt hatter; Woollen warper; Roadman. On 30/7/1871, when Senior was age 20, he married Mary Ann SCROOP , daughter of Cornelius SCROOP , a farmer, in Saddleworth. Mary Ann was born 1851 in Saddleworth and died there December 1878, age 27. She was buried 22/12/1878 in St Chad, Saddleworth. They had the following children: (1) Sarah Ann , born 1871 in Saddleworth and died in August 1930 in Manchester, age 58. She was buried 23/8/1930 in St Thomas, Friarmere, Saddleworth. Read about her relationship with her half uncle Reuben here . (2) Maria Ellen , born 29/9/1873 in Delph. There’s no evidence she married and no conclusive evidence when she died. On 13/9/1880, when Senior was age 29, he married Elizabeth Hannah SHAW in St Thomas’, Friarmere, Saddleworth. Born 1846 in Delph, Saddleworth, it’s not known when she died. Elizabeth’s first marriage was to Adam BUCKLEY (1850-1877) in 1871. Senior and Elizabeth had the following children: (1) Reuben , born 19/10/1883 in Delph and baptized 2/12/1883 at St Chad, Saddleworth. Reuben died 3/6/1951 in Delph, age 68. An entry in the National Probate Register reads: “HOWARD Reuben of 43 Grains-road Delph Yorkshire died 3 June 1951 Administration London 1 December to Ethel Howard widow and Eric Bradbury Howard civil servant. Effects £216 17s.” (Worth around £7,074 today.) There’s no evidence Reuben married. (2) Julius [ 15 ] .
