1. Luke HOWARD . Baptized 15/7/1794 in Holmfirth Chapel in the parish of Almondbury, Yorkshire. Luke’s father was recorded as James, son of John, of  Holme Wood. Luke’s mother, and his father’s occupation, are not mentioned. Luke died 28/8/1872 in Heckmondwike, age 78. On 26/12/1814, when Luke was age 20, he married Jane DEARNALLY (1791-1856) in All Hallows, Almondbury, the parish within within which the township of Holme lies. They had the following children: (1) George , born 9/2/1815 in Holme and baptized 8/3/1815 in the Wesleyan Chapel, Holmfirth. (2) William [ 2 ] . (3) Peter [ 3 ] . (4) Reuben [ 4 ] . (5) Hannah , born 4/5/1825 in Holme and baptized 19/6/1825 in Lane Independent Chapel, Holmfirth. (6) Mary , born 11/10/1827 in Holme and baptized 6/2/1828 in the Wesleyan Chapel, Holmfirth. She died March 1900 in Austonley, age 72, and was buried 15/3/1900 in the Wesleyan Chapel, Hinchcliffe Mill, Austonley. On 1/11/1851, when Mary was age 24 (although age 20 was given on the marriage certificate), she married Jonathan HINCHLIFFE (1832- 1861) in All Hallows, Almondbury. (7) Henry , born 19/2/1830 in Holme and baptized 9/6/1830 in the Wesleyan Chapel, Holmfirth. He died June 1831 in Holme, age 1, and was buried 25/6/1831 in Holy Trinity Church, Holmfirth. (8) Ann , born 15/4/1832 in Holme and baptized 21/10/1832 in Holy Trinity Church, Holmfirth. On 4/4/1850, Ann married William DEARNLEY in St David, Holme Bridge, Almondbury. Ann’s age was given as 24, although she was 17 at the time. (9) Betty , born 8/1/1837 in Holme and baptized 4/6/1837 in Holy Trinity Church, Holmfirth. On 4/4/1850, when Betty was age 23, married Eliab RIDGWICK (1836-1878) in St David, Holme Bridge, Almondbury.

2. William HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 13/11/1818 in Holme and baptized 13/1/1819 in the Wesleyan Chapel, Holmfirth. William died in December 1889 and was buried 21/12/1889 in St Mary, Beeston. Occupation: Woollen cloth weaver; Dyer. On 23/2/1837, when William was age 18, he married Martha ARMITAGE in All Hallows, Almondbury. Martha was born 1817 in Holme and died December 1885, age 68. She was buried 12/12/1885 in St Mary, Beeston.. They had the following children, all born in Holme: (1) Jane , born about 1837. (2) Henry [ 5 ] . (3) Daniel Armitage , born 5/5/1841 and baptized 3/10/1841 in St David, Holme Bridge, Almondbury. He died June 1864 in Batley, age 23, and was buried 23/6/1864 in All Saints, Batley. (4) Isabella , born 19/5/1843 and baptized 18/6/1843 in St David, Holme Bridge,. (5) Caleb [ 6 ] . (6) William [ 7 ] . 3. Peter HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 31/12/1820 in Holmfirth and baptized 12/4/1821 in Lane Independent, Holmfirth. Peter died 1896 in Huddersfield, age 75. On 11/5/1845, when Peter was age 24, he married Amelia COLDWELL , daughter of Ebenezer and Lydia COLDWELL , in All Hallows, Almondbury. Amelia was born 8/1/1825 in Holmfirth and died 1903 in Huddersfield, age 78. They had the following children: (1) Brook , born 6/3/1848 in Cartworth and baptized 7/5/1848 in Lane Independent Chapel, Holmfirth. He died 30/7/1914 in Storthes Hall Asylum , Huddersfield, age 66. (2) Joe , born 1850 in Cartworth, Huddersfield and died 17/7/1869 in High Field Mill Dam, Batley, age 19. The coroner, Thomas Taylor, found at inquest that the cause of death was accidental drowning. (3) Silvanus , born 1860 in Batley and died there in 1861, age 1. (4) Annie Lydia , born about 1864 in Dewsbury and died 1919 in Gravesend, Kent, age 55. On 17/10/1894, when Annie Lydia was age 30, she married Edwin DAWSON (1864-?), son of Thomas DAWSON , in Holmfirth. They had no children. 4. Reuben HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 14/3/1823 in Holmfirth and baptized 8/5/1823 in Lane Independent, Holmfirth. Reuben died 18/3/1895 in Grove Cottages, New Delph, Saddleworth, Yorkshire, age 72.  Cause of death certified as Paralysis agitans 4 years (now known as Parkinson’s Disease); Pneumonia 8 days. Occupation: Woollen warper. Thanks to Edward Howard for the pictures. Click/tap an image to enlarge . In 1849, when Reuben was age 26, he married Sarah SENIOR , daughter of John and Hannah SENIOR . Sarah was born 20/1/1829 and baptized 14/6/1829, both events in Holmfirth. She died about 1859. They had the following children: (1) Senior [ 8 ] . (2) Luke [ 9 ] . (3) Vincent [ 10 ] . (4) Lister [ 11 ] . In 1861, when Reuben was age 38, he married Catherine FOULKES . Born 16/2/1836 in Hulme, Manchester, Catherine died 1/1/1901 in 10 Pemberton Street, Stretford, Manchester, age 64. Cause of death Bronchiectasis exhaustion. They had the following children: (1) Sarah Elizabeth , born and died 1871 in Saddleworth. (2) Harry [ 12 ] . (3) Reuben , born 1874 in Saddleworth and died July 1932 in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, age 57. He was buried 25/7/1932 in St Thomas, Friarmere, Saddleworth. Reuben was included in the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census returns with his brother Harry. In the 1911 census, Reuben was living with Sarah Ann HOWARD (1871-1930). She appeared in the 1901 census with Reuben and Harry. Although described as married 1 year in 1911, their relationship was in fact that of half uncle and niece so they were prohibited from marrying (Marriage Act 1907). This helps explain why there's no trace of a marriage registration in the GRO index.
