The Harris Family of Harrold, Bedfordshire

This is page 1 of 4 tracing the descendants of Joshua Harris and Rebeckah MacQuire, originally of Harrold, Bedfordshire. Later generations lived in Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire. It shows the fourth generation link by marriage to the Jones family. First Generation
1. Joshua HARRIS . Little is known about Joshua except he was born about 1759, possibly in Northampton and died 1845 in Harrold, Bedfordshire, age about 86. Joshua appears in the Bedfordshire Land Tax Records from 1808 to 1830 and was assessed throughout at 1 shilling (5p). On 18/4/1784, when Joshua was age about 24, he married Rebeckah MACQUIRE , daughter of Radman MACQUIRE , a Currier, in All Saints, Northampton. Rebeckah was born 6/11/1763 in Northampton and died some time before 6/6/1841 - she does not appear in the census taken that day. They had the following children: (1) Anne , baptized 23/9/1786 in Harrold. (2) James Macquire [ 2 ] . It seems unlikely these were the only children, but we have so far been unable to trace any others.
Second Generation
2. James Macquire HARRIS [ Parents ]. Born about 1794 in Harrold, James died 1883 in Northampton, age about 88. Occupation: Saddler and harness maker. On 27/8/1816, when James was age about 22, he married Rhoda Peacock LEA , daughter of John and Sarah LEA , in All Hallows Church, Wellingborough. Rhoda was baptized 15/9/1793 in Redbourn, Hertfordshire and died 1870 in Harrold, age about 76. They had  the following children, all born in Harrold and baptized in St Peter, Harrold: (1) Charles [ 3 ] . (2) Robert [ 4 ] . (3) Rebecca , baptized 16/7/1820 and died about January 1892 in Northampton. Rebecca was buried 9/1/1892 in St Michael and All Angels, Northampton. On 23/8/1881, when Rebecca was age 21, she married Thomas HENSHAW (1820-1868), son of John HENSHAW , in St Sepulchre, Northampton. There's no evidence they had any children. On 17/5/1869, when Rebecca was age 49, she married widower Vincent Bull COLLINS (1812-1877), son of William Bull COLLINS , in Holy Cross, Milton alias Middleton Malzor, Northamptonshire. On 24/5/1881, when Rebecca was age 61, she married widower Richard ROBERTS (about 1808-?), son of Richard ROBERTS , in St Edmund, Northampton. (4) Emma , born about 1822. (5) Thomas [ 5 ] . (6) Ann , born about 1826 and baptized 25/12/1832. Ann died 1881 in Towcester, age about 55. On 9/9/1844, when Ann was age about 18, she married William HENSHAW (1817-1903), son of John HENSHAW , in St Sepulchre, Northampton. (7) William John [ 6 ] . (8) Frederick , baptized 4/5/1834 and died about November 1853 in Harrold, age 19. Frederick was buried 9/11/1853 in St Peter.
