54. George CHAPPLE [ Parents ]. Baptized 31/7/1832 in Axminster, George died 29/3/1914 in Membury, age 81. Occupation: Stone mason. On 2/8/1860, when George was 28, he married Jane ROCKETT , daughter of John ROCKETT and Mary GAGE , in Membury. Born 1/2/1838 in Hawkchurch, Dorset, Jane died 15/1/1929 in Membury, age 90. They had the following children: (1) Henry John [ 71 ] . (2) Richard George , born 1862 and died 1863 in Membury, age 1. (3) Thomas George [ 72 ] . (4) Maria Ann, born 1865 in Axminster. (5) Albert Elijah , baptized 20/10/1867 in Membury and died 10/6/1907, age 40. On 11/9/1906, when Albert was age 40, he married Alice TURNER , daughter of James Mark TURNER , a Farmer. (6) Robert William [ 73 ] . (7) Mary Jane [ 74 ] . (8) Richard Frank , born 1871 in Membury. (9) Ernest Edward , born 1873 and died in 1874, age 1. (10) Andrew Amos , born 30/7/1875 in Membury and died there 1/10/1901, age 26. Occupation: Stone mason.  (11) Louisa Bessie , born 1877 in Membury. 55. William CHAPPLE [ Parents ]. Born about 1826, probably in Axminster, William died 1913 in Axminster, age about 87. Occupation: Gardener. In 1854, when William was age about 28, he married Hannah Genge WAKELY , daughter of William WAKELY and Hannah GENGE in Axminster. Born about 1830, Hannah died 1909 in Axminster, age 79. They had the following children, all born in Axminster: (1) Emma Wakely , born 1856. In 1877, when Emma was age about 20, she married Stephen MEADER in Axminster. (2) Hannah Jane , born 1858 and died 1859 in Axminster, age about 1. (3) John Brigham , born May 1858 and died around April 1861 in Axminster, age 2. 56. Henry CHAPPLE [ Parents ]. Born January 1828 in Axminster and baptized there 20/4/1828. Henry died 29/1/1891, in Membury, age 62. Occupation: Gamekeeper. An entry in the National Probate Calendar reads: “Administration of the Personal Estate of Henry Chapple later of Membury in the County of Devon Gamekeeper who died 29 January 1891 at Membury was granted at the Principal Registry to Maria Chapple of Axminster in the said County Widow the Relict. £194 13s. 5d. (Worth around £23,790 today.) In 1856 when Henry was age about 27, he  married Ann CHAPPLE , daughter of Henry CHAPPLE and Elizabeth DENSLOW , in Axminster.  Ann was baptized 12/7/1829 in Membury and died 1876 in Axminster, age 47. They had one child: (1) John , born 1860 in Axminster. John does not appear in the 1861 census. It’s assumed he died before then. In 1878, when Henry was age 50, he married Mary Ann BRIGHT . Mary was born about 1832 in Hawkchurch, Dorset. There is no evidence they had any children. Mary Ann must have died within a couple of years after the marriage because on 9/11/1880 Henry married Maria ROCKETT (abt. 1833-?), daughter of John ROCKETT , in Bridport. 57. John CHAPPLE [ Parents ]. Born 1830 in Axminster and baptized there 18/4/1830. It’s not known whe John died. Occupation: Gardener. In 1855, when John was 25, he married Elizabeth POWELL in Axminster. Elizabeth was born about 1827 in Hawkchurch. It’s not known when she died. Occupation: Laundress. They had the following children: (1) Elizabeth , born 1857. (2) John , born 1859. (3) Joshua , born 1863. 58. Richard CHAPPLE [ Parents ]. Born 1837 in Axminster. Richard died about May 1875 in Kilmington, age 37. He was buried in St Giles, Kilmington on 8/5/1875. In 1861, when Richard was age about 24, he married Amelia ROSE , daughter of Sarah ROSE and John HELYAR . Baptized 8/12/1839 in Chard, Somerset, Amelia died 1/1/1925, age 85.  She was buried 6/1/1925 in Axminster. Click/tap images to enlarge. They had the following children: (1) William Henry [ 75 ] . (2) Thornhill [ 76 ] . (3) Alfred Richard , born 1866. (4) Jesse Oliver [ 77 ] . (5) Elizabeth Ella , born 24/3/1869 and baptized 6/6/1869 in Kilmington. She died 22/9/1950 in Axminster, age 81. On 26/10/1904, when Elizabeth Ella was age 34, she married Sidney John TRIVETT (1865-1938), son of John TRIVETT and Emily S piller , in Axminster using the name Ella Elizabeth. (6) John George [ 78 ] . (7) Arthur Lanyard , born 1873 in Kilmington. (8) Frances Lavinia , born in 1874 and died 1875. Amelia had one child after Richard's death. No father was named on the baptism record: (1) Frederick [ 79 ] .
