5. William James BRADBURY [ Parents ]. Born 9/6/1883 in Blacktown, Madras and baptized 4/7/1883 in Emmanuel Church, Madras. It’s not known when or where William James died. Occupation: Permanent Way Inspector, Railway. On 1/8/1911, when William James was age 28, he married his uncle Robert Edwin Bradbury ’s widow of 7 months Mary Maud Cochrane BRADBURY (nee SMITH) (1880-7/4/1943), daughter of William Daniel SMITH , in St Mark’s Church, Madras. The marriage record shows that she used the name Maud Mary Smith and declared herself a spinster. They had the following children: (1) Dorothy Sybil , born 16/10/1913 in Madras and baptized 1/11/1913 in St Mary’s, Madras. It’s not known when Dorothy Sybil died. In 1935, when Dorothy was age about 22, she married Soloman Daniel MABEN (1909-1935) in Madras. (2) Robert Edwin , born 1914 in Madras. It’s not known whether he married or when he died. (3) Winston Malcolm [ 7 ] . (4) Marie Sylvia , born about 1916 in Madras. It’s not known whether she married or when she died. (5) Charles , dates unknown. 6. Ernest Edwin BRADBURY [ Parents ]. Born 18/4/1886 in Cuddapah and baptized there 16/5/1886. Ernest Edwin died 12/1/1928 in Madras, age given in the burial record as 43. Cause of death given as after effects of operation. Occupation: Mechanic (1909); Superintendent Steam Launch Department, His Highness the Nizam’s Government (1914). (Nizam was the title of the hereditary ruler of Hyderabad.) On On 7/6/1909, when Ernest Edwin was age 23, he married his cousin Annie Mabel BRADBURY (1892-?), daughter of Robert Edwin BRADBURY and Rachel HIGGINS in, according to the certificate, the residence of the Bride’s father, Royapettah, Madras. They had the following children: (1) Daisy Annie Maud , born 30/5/1911 and baptized 18/7/1911 in Chadaraghat. It’s not known whether Daisy Annie Maud married or when she died. (2) William Henry Richard , born 7/1/1913 in Chadaraghat and baptized there 22/1/1913. William Henry Richard died 16/12/1926 in Madras, age given in the burial record as 14. Cause of death given as Enteric. (Enteric diseases are infections caused by viruses and bacteria that enter the body through the mouth or intestinal system, primarily as a result of eating, drinking and digesting contaminated foods or liquids.) William Henry Richard was buried 16/12/1926 in St Thomas Mount, Madras. (3) Robert Edwin , born 3/9/1914 in Hyderabad and baptized 22/9/1914 in Chadaraghat. Robert Edwin died January 2003 in North Yorkshire, age 88.
