5. George LUCHFORD [Parents]. Baptized 12/10/1817 in Snodland, George died quarter ending June 1876 in Medway, age about 58. Occupation: Mariner.
On 6/7/1843, when George was age about 26, he married Sarah CHAPMAN. Sarah was born about 1824 in Rochester & died sometime between 1868 and the time of the 1871 census, where George was described as a widower.
They had the following children, all baptized at St Nicholas, Rochester (unless stated otherwise):
(1) Sarah Ann, baptized 22/9/1844. (2) George, baptized 10/1/1847. (3) Richard William . (4) Eliza, baptized 6/10/1850. (5) Thomas, born 1852. (6) Charles, baptized 25/5/1856. (7) Emily, baptized 25/5/1856. (8) Stephen, baptized 28/10/1857. (9) William Holden, baptized 21/8/1859. (10) Alfred . (11) Frederick, baptized 9/4/1862 at St Margaret’s Church, Rochester & died quarter ending June 1901 in Strood, age about 39. (12) George James .
6. Richard Martin LUCHFORD [Parents]. Baptized 14/7/1822 in Snodland, it is not known when Richard Martin died. Occupation: Licensed victualler.
On 2/1/1842, when Richard was age about 20, he married Rose Emma ROGERS in Strood. Born 25/1/1824 in Snodland & baptized 19/2/1824, it is not known when Rose Emma died.
They had the following children, all baptized in St Nicholas of Myra Church, Strood:
(1) Sarah Elizabeth Martin, baptized 17/4/1842. (2) James William, born 23/10/1844 & baptized 17/11/1844. James William died 10/12/1927 in the Medway Poor Law Union Institution, Chatham, age 83. He’d been admitted on 1/12/1922. Cause of death: Senile decay. In 1865, when James was age 21, he married Anne Elizabeth BOWES in Maidstone. There is no evidence they had any children. (3) Charlotte, baptized 3/10/1847. (4) Harriett Sophia, baptized 11/5/1851. (5) Rose Frances, baptized 16/4/1854.
