5.Link to census Stanley John JOHNSON [Parents]. Born quarter ending September 1868 in Shoreditch, Stanley John died quarter ending June 1936 in Barnet, age about 67. Occupation: Valuer (1895); Appraiser of licensed property & effects (1901); Public house broker (1911).

On 7/8/1895, when Stanley John was age about 26, he married Pollie CUFFE, daughter of Eugene Augustus CUFFE, a box maker, & Mary Ann ARTHUR, in St Thomas’ Church, Clapton Common. Pollie was born 10/2/1870 in Islington and died quarter ending September 1906 in Hackney, age 36. They had no children.

In the quarter ending March 1909, when Stanley John was age about 40, he married Ellen Theresa CUFFE, daughter of Eugene Augustus CUFFE, a box maker, & Mary Ann ARTHUR, in Hackney. Ellen Theresa was born 6/10/1877 in Brockley, London & died quarter ending March 1972 in Barnet, age 94.

They had the following children:

(1) Derek Cuffe, born 8/3/1910 in Barnet & died December 1998 in Hendon, age 88. (2) Stanley, born quarter ending December 1913 in Barnet.

6.Link to census Clarence Aubrey JOHNSON [Parents]. Born 12/2/1873 in Hackney & baptized 23/3/1873 at St John, Hackney, Clarence Aubrey died quarter ending September 1960 in Surrey, age 87. Occupation: Auctioneer & Surveyor; Public house broker (1911).

On 19/9/1906, when Clarence Aubrey was age 33, he married Eleanor Violet ATWELL, daughter of William & Eleanor ATWELL, at St Michael & All Angels, Stoke Newington, London. Eleanor was born quarter ending December 1884 in Hackney & died quarter ending December 1915 in Hampstead, age about 30.

They had the following child:

(1) Barbara Eleanor, born quarter ending September 1909 in Hackney.

7.Link to census Edward Henry JOHNSON [Parents]. Born 9/11/1868 in St George in the East & baptized there 29/11/1868. It is not known when he died. Occupation: Paper hanger.

On 10/1/1903, when Edward Henry was age 34, he married Sarah BARTINGALE, daughter of William Samuel BARTINGALE, a Railway guard, at St Michael’s Church, Battersea. Sarah was born about 1881 in Kew, Surrey. It is not known when she died.

They had the following children:

(1) Florence, born about 1905 in Walthamstow. (2) Edward, born about 1906 in Tooting. (3) Frances, born 1910 in Shadwell.

8.Link to census James Robert JOHNSON [Parents]. Born 28/12/1864 in St George in the East.  By the time of his marriage in 1885 James Robert was calling himself “Robert James” & that remained the case for the rest of his life. He died 6/8/1936 in The German Hospital, Dalston, age 71. Cause of death: Carcinoma of pancreas, certified by W. B. Purchase, Coroner for County of London, after post mortem without inquest. Death reported by his daughter Ethel Ling, 21 Mildmay Street, Islington. He was buried on 13/8/1936 in Abney Park Cemetery, Stoke Newington. Occupation: Tobacco cutter.

On 27/11/1885 when Robert James was 20, he married Frances Elizabeth PARRIS, daughter of William PARRIS & Mary LUCHFORD, in Maidstone, Kent. Born 11/9/1865 in Upper Halling, Frances Elizabeth died 8/1/1931, age 65. She was buried 24/1/1931 in Abney Park Cemetery, Stoke Newington.

They had the following children:

(1) Mary Florence, born 22/4/1887 in Maidstone. Mary Florence died 7/1/1973 in Frome, Somerset, age 85. In the quarter ending December 1909, when Mary Florence was age 22, she married George Alfred SLATER in Hackney. Born quarter ending June 1886 in Bethnal Green, it is not known when George died. (2) Gertrude Annie, born quarter ending December 1888 in Maidstone. On 12/4/1914, When Gertrude was age 25, she married James Thomas Lindley HODGE, son of James HODGE & Eliza Georgina WOOD, at St Peter’s Hackney. (3) Albert Edward Parris [10]. (4) James [11] . (5) Henry Parris [12]. (6) Ethel Elizabeth, born quarter ending December 1900 in Shoreditch. In the quarter ending June 1922, when Ethel was age about 21, she married Joseph LING in Hackney, London. (7) Alfred Thomas [13]. (8) George [14].

9.Link to census Frank Frederick JOHNSON [Parents]. Born quarter ending December 1873 in Chatham, Kent, Frank died quarter ending March 1930 in Hackney, age 56. Occupation: Street trader.

In the quarter ending September 1899, when Frank was age 25, he married Martha Matilda WHILEY in Shoreditch. Martha was born quarter ending June 1876 in London & died quarter ending March 1958 in Stoke Newington, age 81.

They had the following children, all baptized at St Peter, De Beauvoir Town, Hackney:

Link to CWGC citation(1) Francis Charles, born 31/10/1899 in Islington and baptized 26/11/1899. Private 616507 Francis Johnson, 19th Bn., London Regiment died 2/7/1918, age 18 at an unknown place, during the Great War. Francis is commemorated at the City of London Cemetery, Manor Park. (2) Charles Thomas, born 9/6/1901 in Islington & baptized 21/7/1901. (3) William James, born 25/10/1903 in Islington & baptized 22/11/1903. (4) Annie Elizabeth, born 5/11/1906 in Islington & baptized 2/12/1906.
